Synchronicity

ImageMagic, manifestation, universal alignment- whatever you want to call it, it’s happening. There are those who believe that events just occur without reason. It’s what the rational mind calls coincidence. Personally, I like to believe that the Universe is a bit more magical- playful even- than that.

I feel to better recognize the “signs” life is constantly sending our direction, it is our job to receive with an open heart and open mind. So many things/people have come into my life always at just the right moment. It may not have been on my terms or in the time when wanted them to occur, but sometimes the Universe has a plan of its own. When these things happen, it opens me in such a way that I feel completely connected. That whole mind, body, spirit thing? It’s no joke. When those three things are in alignment, there is just a “knowing” that even if I don’t like what life is currently handing out, it is still perfect.

Much of the work we as women (humans) are here to do, involves connection. Certainly as women it is something we tend to thrive at. Connection to family and friends, earth, God (whatever that is for you), breath and community are vital to our being. When we lose that sense of connection, we lose a part of ourselves- our energy depletes, our hearts darken, nothing in our life seems to “go right”. I don’t think we all value just how much being receptive to these signs or synchronicities actually helps to fuel our souls. They bring inspiration and possibilities.

Now I realize that it seems just about impossible to hold that particular state of being all the time. We’re human. Each one of us has within us light and dark, yin and yang, masculine and feminine. It’s the nature of duality. And guess what? It’s ok to play and move between those spaces. One cannot exist without the other- they are both one in the same. Everyone and everything is connected. The sooner each one of us can embrace that idea, the more at peace we will all be.

So what can we do to help open our hearts? What will help us to recognize the signs in our lives?

Merging

ImageAlright MoonStruckers~ Happily Homeless and MoonStruck are merging! As a mother and daughter team, we are planning to take MoonStruck out on the road in 2014 (in a Pink Ford Escape no less!). Our goal is to spread as much love and magic through workshops and events (which will include yoga and hula hooping!) all across our great country, and we want to meet YOU! It’s time for a MoonStruck movement and we need your help. Spread the word, share the love, gather your “sisters”, stop by and like our FB page and reach out to us!

If you would like to host a workshop or event in YOUR town, please contact us at moonstruckgatherings@gmail.com

NOW is the time. Let’s make this happen!

Tea Time!

ImageIt was an afternoon of decorating hats, making wishes, reading tea leaves and tasting delicious treats, all within a circle of women. Today marked our 2nd official MoonStruck event and once again we celebrate a success! Not large in numbers but everyone who was meant to be a part of today, was. My mother-in-law was in town and a wonderful addition to our circle.

This particular gathering attracted a much younger demographic (a nine month old and her 4 year old sister!). I love to see the younglings surrounded by a beautiful group of diverse women. I think it is so important for their character, self-esteem and hearts to understand the importance of sisterhood as they grow into women themselves. If I ever have a daughter someday, this is the environment that will surround her. I also believe it is just as important for us adults to have young children around as a reminder for what matters in life. They help us remember a time when life was always full of magic and wonder. There is an innocence and sweetness to their interaction and relationship with the world. We should all cherish such moments. Image

I come away from days like this feeling inspired. I have a renewed sense of passion and creativity. I feel blessed to be in the company of such amazing and loving women. This is what MoonStruck is all about. It’s the whimsy of little treasures that sparkle, the laughter during story telling, the connection and support we feel when going through a difficult time, the inspiration that comes from learning something new and the recognition that each of these women are ultimately a reflection of a part of myself. I am not separate from them, nor they from I. We may be individual threads, but we all come from the same glittering tapestry.

To all current and future MoonStruckers, may you be blessed and discover the magic that awaits you!

MoonStruck Madness

ImageThey came, we gathered, it was everything I hoped it would be. Some of the women I knew and others became quick friends. It’s amazing how connections are made. We had 11 women join us (plus me and my mum). The day prior had been spent turning my backyard into a magical space and it seemed to have paid off! There was a Goddess Temple, a marketplace, an ancestor/wild woman tree and a wall of inspiration with chalk writings. We had tarot readings, toe readings, hooping, a dress up basket, paint for body art and lots of delicious treats for munching.Image

We began our gathering with a women’s circle. A chance to introduce ourselves to one another and share why we are wanting to set free our wild woman. I find it so incredibly powerful when women join in a circle and share their stories. You can always find a common link between them. Young, old, mothers, daughters, friends, strangers… We set our intention for the evening and for MoonStruck. We had each woman write down what their wish or desire was for MoonStruck. Also included was a ceremony using flying wish paper. This involves writing down a wish or intention for yourself, lighting the paper on fire, and watching your wish literally fly up into the sky above. One after the other, we sent our intentions into the Universe.

ImageI have hosted events before~ wedding, housewarmings, birthday parties etc. This was different. This was about putting myself out into the world and asking friends and people I didn’t even know before last night, to come support my passion. So much love and hard work went into making this happen. There weren’t great numbers of women but it was perfect. Everyone who was supposed to be there, was. Having our first successful gathering has made this venture so much more real now. Watching these women as they connected helped me realize that I am doing exactly what I am meant to be doing. I am excited to watch as we grow, to collaborate with these amazing women and ultimately be a positive force in this community. Waking up to this event yesterday had me more excited than a kid on Christmas morning. There was joyous anticipation and happiness in my bones. I felt that everything I had spent my life creating was finally coming together. And this is just the beginning.

Eurynome

ImageEurynome is an ancient Greek goddess who reached out to the chaos at the beginning of time, embraced it, and made order in the world. Through her sacred dance, the winds were born, from her womb came the land and stars, and then she created rulers for the poles (one male, one female) so that balance would forever be maintained.    ~from 365 Goddess: a daily guide to the magic and inspiration of the goddess

Today is about unity, peace and balance. It is something that I think we all strive for- in relationships, career, family etc. The world as a whole seems to ebb and flow between this idea. There are, at times, moments when the the world seems to stand still as we gather as one. And other times when we seem completely at odds as wars rage, hunger escalates and hate/fear smother us. It is easy to feel defeated and hopeless. It is why we have these little reminders to let us know that all is not lost. There are people every day creating community and advocating peace, therefore bringing balance. It is an impossible task to take on all the problems of the world. Gandhi said, “You must be the change you wish to see in the world.” It’s true. Perhaps you can’t fix global hunger, but you can make an impact on even just one person in your community.

This is something I really connect to. I can’t bring myself to watch the news anymore. It’s all so depressing. What I try to focus on is where I can make a difference in my life, and then allow my actions to ripple outwards. Being conscious of the words you speak, actions you take and wisdom that you share, can make all the difference. So this is the theme of the day. Reach out to Eurynome and give thanks for her blessings by dancing wildly and freely around your living room. Gather with your friends and focus your energies towards something that can bring positive change~ within yourself, each other or the world.

Breathing in Love

Today of all days I feel grateful for the love that surrounds me. In the emotions that surround 9/11, I recognize the need for empathy- on a global level. I sit here in my little pocket of the world doing what I can to make a difference. I think that is why this venture of creating community among women is so close to my heart.

It may seem insignificant, but in the just the last 3 days our FB page has gotten a number of new “likes”. It’s not so much that my ego is excited about how “popular” we are, but more that the awareness of a need for strength in sisterhood and compassion is necessary and growing. We also have a few new ladies are coming to our first event. This brings me hope that we as women are reaching out and embracing one another.

In a world filled with terror, greed and violence, it is crucial that we take whatever small steps we can to share our knowledge and wisdom with those who live blindly. I’m not talking about preaching or shoving your beliefs down someone else’s throat. I’m talking about being a living example of compassionate humanity, being a beacon of light in a shadow of darkness, making a difference in your community. Do small acts of kindness just because. Smile from your heart. Breathe life into suffering.

So today, if just for a moment, give thanks. For YOU are love.
